Think the Brought Low but with radio-friendly songs or the Black Label Society with more of a Southern spin and you're close to the sound of Brooklyn's Black Water Rising. Featuring former Dust to Dust vocalist Rob Traynor, former Stereomud guitarist Johnny Fattoruso, former Boiler Room drummer Mike Meselsohn, and bassist Oddie McLaughlin, the band began gigging around New York City.
Hard rockers BLACK WATER RISING are proud to announce the european release of their self-titled debut album. The self-titled debut from BLACK WATER RISING, is a collection of soul baring, angst ridden, riff heavy material that is proudly anchored in the foundations of traditional hard rock song writing. Its giant guitar driven monster riffs are served up on a bed of crushing grooves with soaring melodic vocals and big hooks. Basically, NO FRILLS RIFF ROCK!
Black Water Rising’s first single “Brother Go On” has been receiving heavy rotation on Sirius's Satellite Radio's Octane channel. Drummer Mike Meselsohn says of the new record, “There seems to be a real demand for this album and we no longer want to keep our fans waiting. It’s been a long time coming and we are psyched to finally be getting it out there.”
With over 500.000 friends on MySpace, mostly from word-of-mouth alone (a lot generated from Sirius Octane), the fan response from around the world has been overwhelmingly positive. Let’s not forget that BLACK WATER RISING is a High Times Doobie Award Winner for Best Rock/Alternative Artist, beating out The Mars Volta, The Eagles of Death Metal, Staind, Danko Jones, and Warrior Soul.
