Kärbholz
18 Jahre werden es 2023 bei den 4 Freunden von Kärbholz aus dem beschaulichen Ruppichteroth.
Da wird sich ein mancher denken, irgendwann müsse sich der Verschleiß doch bemerkbar machen. Mitnichten. Denn: die verordnete Zwangspause der zurückliegenden zwei Jahre war beileibe nicht nur ein Unglücksfall für Torben (Gesang), Adrian (Gitarre), Stefan (Bass) und Henning (Schlagzeug). Getreu dem Motto „Auch die Pause gehört zur Musik!“ wurde die Zeit genutzt um Luft zu holen, aufzutanken und sich im Proberaum kreativ zusammen- und wiederzufinden. Erneut standen den vier Jungs das Produzententeam Eike Freese (Chameleon Studios) und Alexander Dietz (Heaven Shall Burn, Chemical Burn Studios) zur Seite.
Auf „Kapitel Elf: Barrikaden“ hört Ihr 11 Stücke. Songs, die mal im kleinen, mal im großen Gewand Geschichten aus dem Leben erzählen. Der Opener und Namensgeber BARRIKADEN, der mit knallharter Metal-Kante festgefahrene Gesellschaftsstrukturen und zwischenmenschliche Glaubensgrundsätze infrage stellt. Das vehemente RAUBTIER, das dasselbige versucht wiederzuerwecken. UNTER FERNER LIEFEN… „schon immer ich und mein Verstand“. Eine Ode an die eigene Unvernunft. Oder auch das brachiale EINS GEGEN EINS, das den Frieden mit sich selbst herbeisehnt, zu dem Schluss kommt, dass es im Kampf mit sich selbst -leider- meist keinen Sieger gibt, bevor es am Ende seine wahre, allumfassendere Intention verrät. Das sind einige Beispiele die klarmachen, wo Kärbholz ihre musikalischen Einflüsse haben. Hier ist mehr Killswitch Engage drin als Hosen. Das macht es schwer, die Songs in Schubladen zu pressen.
Aber natürlich ist nicht alles Metal was glänzt. Die musikalische Bandbreite des Albums beweisen Songs wie das vertonte Gedicht DER ZUG, der „fast schon Crossover“- Prügler MUT GEGEN PERSPEKTIVE oder das zwischen bittersüßen Harmonien und rigoroser Abrechnung mit falschen Freunden wechselnde GAR NICHTS.

The 4 friends in the band Kärbholz from the tranquil town of Ruppichteroth will be 18 years old in 2023.
Some people will think that at some point the wear and tear must become noticeable. Not at all. Because: the forced break of the past two years was by no means only a stroke of bad luck for Torben (vocals), Adrian (guitar), Stefan (bass) and Henning (drums). True to the motto "Even the break belongs to the music!" the time was used to catch their breath, refuel and creatively come together and reunite in the rehearsal room. Once again, the four guys were supported by the producer team Eike Freese (Chameleon Studios) and Alexander Dietz (Heaven Shall Burn, Chemical Burn Studios).
On “Kapitel Elf Barrikaden“ you can hear 11 tracks. Songs that tell stories from life sometimes in a small, sometimes in a big way. The opener and namesake BARRIKADEN, which challenges entrenched social structures and interpersonal beliefs with a hard-hitting metal edge. The vehement RAUBTIER, which tries to reawaken the same. UNTER FERNER LIEFEN... "always me and my mind". An ode to one's own unreasonableness. Or also the brute EINS GEGEN EINS, which longs for peace with itself, comes to the conclusion that in the fight with itself - unfortunately - there is usually no winner, before it betrays its true, all-embracing intention at the end. These are some examples that make clear where Kärbholz have their musical influences. There's more Killswitch Engage in here than pants. That makes it hard to pigeonhole the songs.
But of course, not all that glitters is metal. The musical range of the album is proven by songs like the poem DER ZUG set to music, the "almost crossover" brawler MUT GEGEN PERSPEKTIVE or GAR NICHTS, which alternates between bittersweet harmonies and rigorous reckoning with false friends.

Wie? Schon wieder Kärbholz? Kam nicht gerade erst Kapitel 11: Barrikaden; und jetzt schon wieder? Wer hat sich denn da vertan?
Eine wohl kalkulierte Promokampagne oder doch ein mathematischer Totalausfall? Im Hause Kärbholz scheint mit dem ersten Lockdown der kreative Funke einen Flächenbrand ausgelöst zu haben. Abwarten was die Zeit bringt, diese jedoch nicht verschwenden war das Kredo und so hat die Band im letzten Jahr nicht nur Material für einen Longplayer komponiert. Nein, Songs für ganze zwei volle Alben sind entstanden; alle relevant und keiner, von dem man sich hätte trennen können. Der einzige Weg für Kärbholz: Double In, Double Out.
Die Songs, die in einer Episode geschrieben worden sind, wurden vor Produktionsbeginn auf die zwei Alben aufgeteilt: Kapitel 10 und Kapitel 11. Und genau in dieser Reihenfolge erfolgten die finalen Aufnahmen gemeinsam mit den Produzenten Alexander Dietz und Eike Freese. Woche um Woche wohnte, lebte und arbeitete man zusammen. Kapitel 10: WILDE AUGEN wurde fertiggestellt - Halbzeit – und ab in die Herstellung.
Weiter ging es mit Kapitel 11: Barrikaden und genau dem Moment, in dem sich alles ändern sollte...
Während der finalen Studiophase zum eigentlich zweiten Album „Kapitel 11: BARRIKADEN“ machte sich dieses Gefühl breit… dieses Gefühl, das jeder hatte, aber niemand wagte:
Dieses zweite Album ist eigentlich das perfekte ERSTE Album. Dies sind eigentlich die Songs, mit denen man aus der Stille heraustreten will und sollte, die sich dafür einfach aufdrängten.
Kapitel 10: WILDE AUGEN ist rudimentärer und ungestümer. Es ist der ungezogene Bruder mit den zerrissenen Hosen. Aber auch das musikalische Bindeglied zwischen heute und gestern, erinnert es doch vielleicht am ehesten an das Album RASTLOS von 2009.
Aber was tun? Kapitel 10: WILDE AUGEN war bereits produziert. Das Vinyl lag schon auf dem Tisch. Und darauf stand nun mal: KAPITEL ZEHN! Unumstößlich und unumkehrbar. Und mag hier auch niemand als mathematisches Wunderkind gelten, 10 kommt VOR 11.
Aber wie war das noch vor ein paar Jahren…“Immer mehr Herz als Verstand…“
Also was soll's! Ihr kennt Kapitel 11? Dann lernt nun Kapitel 10, die WILDEN AUGEN kennen. Diese Augen sind hungrig, wollen mehr und drehen sich im Kreise… da kümmert es doch am Ende nicht… dieses kleine bisschen Mathematik.

What, Kärbholz again? Didn't Chapter 11: Barricades just come in, and now again? Who got it wrong?
A well calculated promo campaign or a mathematical total failure? In the house of Kärbholz, the creative spark seems to have started a conflagration with the first lockdown. Wait and see what time will bring, but do not waste it was the credo and so the band has not only composed material for a long player in the last year. No, songs for two full albums were created; all relevant and none that could have been parted with. The only way for Kärbholz: Double In, Double Out.
The songs written in one episode were split between the two albums before production started: Chapter 10 and Chapter 11. And exactly in this order the final recordings took place together with producers Alexander Dietz and Eike Freese. Week after week they lived and worked together. Chapter 10: WILDE AUGEN was finished - half time - and off to production.
It continued with chapter 11: Barricades and exactly the moment when everything should change...
During the final studio phase for what was actually the second album "Chapter 11: BARRIKADEN" this feeling spread... this feeling that everyone had, but no one dared:
This second album is actually the perfect FIRST album. These are actually the songs with which one wants and should step out of the silence, which simply imposed themselves for this.
Chapter 10: WILDE AUGEN is more rudimentary and boisterous. It is the naughty brother with the torn pants. But also the musical link between today and yesterday, it is perhaps most reminiscent of the album RASTLOS from 2009.
But what to do? Chapter 10: WILDE AUGEN was already produced. The vinyl was already on the table. And on it was written: CHAPTER TEN! Irrefutably and irreversibly. And no one here may be considered a mathematical prodigy, 10 comes BEFORE 11.
